Charges for Adult Social Care services

If you choose to receive support from Adult Social Care, they will tell you the cost of this support before you start to receive it.  The charges made for services vary:

  • some services are free - for example, advice and information, most occupational therapy equipment, assessments and visits by Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care staff or volunteers;
  • others have a set charge - for example, meals and the contribution to the cost of meals at day care; and
  • for others, people pay on a sliding scale according to their means, following a financial assessment, for example, home care, care provided a day centre, transport and care in a residential or nursing home.
