The Community Bridge Building Service supports individuals to explore and understand their own mental health issues and how these issues effects their everyday life. Support is focused on assisting people to learn practical ways to overcome personal barriers, manage distressing feelings, develop effective coping strategies and build long term resilience.

We also provide support to enable people to access community activities and resources increasing their opportunities for connecting with others, reducing social isolation, engaging in meaningful activities, developing skills and improving overall wellbeing.

We will support people to attend activites within their local community including accessing education, sports, leisure, arts acitivties, volunteering, faith communities, and work opportunities. Support is given until the person gains confidence to access their chosen activity without support.

We offer both individual 1:1 support and also group work.

The service supports individuals to:

  • Understand and develop robust strategies to manage long term mental health issues including psychotic symptoms such as coping with hearing voices, managing paranoid thoughts and feelings
  • Reduce vulnerability to harm from self and others
  • Resolve problems with activities of daily living
  • Engage in meaningful social and recreational activities
  • Increase opportunities for developing and sustaining positive friendships and support networks
