Sight Advice aims to support people with visual impairment to improve the quality of their lives, together with promoting greater awareness of sight issues.

We aim to do this by:

  • Enabling visually impaired people to live independently

  • Providing practical and emotional support to visually impaired people and their families and carers

  • Enabling visually impaired people to access social support and activities

  • Promoting awareness of sight issues and to campaign with, and on behalf of, visually impaired people

We currently offer the following services:

  • Advice, information and emotional support on eye conditions and sight loss at the centre, by telephone and by home visits

  • A display of equipment at the centre such as talking clocks, books, scales, newspapers etc

  • A Children and Young People project offering activities and support for under 18’s

  • An Eye Clinic Liaison Officer service providing information and support when attending eye clinic hospital appointments

  • Base for the monthly NHS Low Vision Clinic on behalf of Morecambe Bay CCG

  • Positive Steps courses for adults on independent living

  • Support and information groups meeting in different towns in our area

  • Social and leisure activities including a walking group and a sailing group

  • Group and individual tuition on how to use smart phones, iPads, social media, Facebook, Alexa, Skype etc

  • Advice on hand-held and desktop magnification devices that can assist in reading or looking at screens

  • Advice on lighting your home, desk or workplace
