Notes

Tynefield Drive Day Centre is situated at the southern end of Penrith, close to Penrith Health Centre and Penrith Hospital.  The Day Centre is open Monday to Friday, 9.30-4.00.

Tynefield Drive Day Centre aims to meet the needs of up to eight adults, from the age of 55 years, all of whom have a form of dementia or are at any stage of dementia.

We offer a wide range of therapeutic and stimulating activies and encourage everyone to participate.  Our activities range includes, chair based exercises to music, quizzes, word games, sing-songs, skittles, hoop-la, knitting, musical games, reminiscence, pampering sessions, gardening and anything else that is requested that we can organise.  Periodically we have trips out and have been to local garden centres as well as Silloth, the icecream farm and out for coffee and cake.  We like to get outside whenever the weather is suitable.

Lunch is provided by Greengarth kitchen staff and there is always a choice.

There is a hairdresser in the home one day a week so there is the opportunity for a "short back and sides", a "shampoo and set" or a perm.

We have an assisted bath where we can help someone have a bath whilst retaining their dignity and respect at all times.  Our staff are NVQ trained and are able to assist with all aspects of personal care.

Our aim is to promote independence at all times whilst protecting dignity and respect.  We want to make attending Day Care a fun and interesting day out for everyone and whilst we appreciate that everyone is different, we try to give everyone equal opportunities.

The Day Centre is within Greengarth and can be used as a stepping stone to respite and long term care which may be required in the future.
